Assistant Montessori Teacher

Summary of Position:

• The role of the Assistant is to support the Head Teacher in various aspects of the classroom; to help foster the development of the children intellectually

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Support the Head Teacher as directed in matters regarding classroom
• curriculum and students
• Provide instruction to students at the request of the Head Teacher
• Help maintain attendance and other written or electronic records as directed by the Head Teacher
• Assist in carpool responsibilities at arrival and dismissal times as assigned Supervise the class at lunch and recess period and other times when the teacher is out of the room
• Defer to Head Teacher in parent communication; respectfully direct parents to the Head Teacher if approached by a parent
• Support classroom events and trips including
• but not limited to: field trips
• presentations
• and performances
• Assist in preparing and maintaining the classroom environment and materials
• Observe student behaviors and steps in when appropriate
• communicating student progress or concerns with the Head Teacher

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience

• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Experience working with preschool aged children in an educational or related setting
• Effective communicator
• verbal and written
• with children and adults
• Demonstrated ability to adapt to a variety of settings and environments
